Why Proper Plastic Waste Disposal Matters for Kathmandu Businesses

The "out of sight, out of mind" approach to waste is no longer viable in the Kathmandu Valley. As the gateway to the Himalayas, our city’s environmental health is directly tied to its economic prosperity.

Environmental Impact

Pollution in Streets and Rivers: Improperly discarded plastic ends up in the Bagmati and Bishnumati rivers, destroying aquatic ecosystems and creating eyesores in our historic city.
Harm to Local Communities: Clogged drains lead to urban flooding during the monsoon, a problem exacerbated by plastic film and bottles.
Air Pollution from Burning: In many outskirts, plastic is still burned for heat or disposal, releasing toxic dioxins and furans into the air we breathe.

Business Reputation

Today’s consumers, students, and employees are environmentally conscious.

Eco-Conscious Guests: International and local tourists are more likely to book hotels that boast "Green Initiatives."
Educational Values: Schools that practice what they preach regarding the environment build stronger trust with parents.
CSR and Sustainability: For corporate offices, using a biofuel facility in Kathmandu for waste disposal provides tangible data for Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) reports.

How the Tarakeshwore Biofuel Facility Converts Plastic Waste into Energy

Our facility isn't just a collection point; it’s a center of innovation. We utilize advanced thermal technology to process non-recyclable and recyclable plastics into high-grade biofuel.

1. Collection & Sorting

Once our trucks complete a school waste pickup in Kathmandu or a hotel run, the plastic is brought to Tarakeshwore. Here, it is segregated by type (LDPE, HDPE, PP, etc.) to ensure the highest efficiency in the conversion process.

2. The Conversion Process

We employ Pyrolysis technology , a thermochemical decomposition of organic material at elevated temperatures in the absence of oxygen.

Processing: Plastic is cleaned and shredded.
Waste-to-Fuel: The shredded plastic is heated in a controlled environment, breaking down the polymer chains.
Biofuel Production: The resulting vapors are condensed into a liquid fuel that can be used for industrial heating or refined further.

3. Environmental Benefits

Reduced Landfill Pressure: Every ton of plastic we collect is a ton that doesn't sit in a landfill for 500 years.
Cleaner Neighborhoods: By offering a free service, we remove the financial incentive for illegal dumping.
Renewable Energy: We are creating a local source of energy, reducing Nepal's reliance on imported fossil fuels.
